Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder

Image result for laura mercier powder
Background Information/ About Brand:
Renowned Makeup Artist Laura Mercier uses Setting Powder to set foundation and prolong its wear, so she applies it after foundation and concealer, and before applying powder-based color. It also helps powder blush or bronzer go on more evenly. I have used one other powder besides this one it was a great one as well but the brand was no longer made anymore, the only way to get it was online. This powder by Laura Mercier is almost exactly like the one I used to use by Truco. This has a price point at $38 for the standard and has 1oz, 30 mL and for the one I am giving away the travel sized one is $23 and has 0.33 oz, 9 g of product.

Details:
It is a silky powder with a touch of sheer coverage to set makeup for lasting wear.

Features/ Benefits:
  • it is translucent
  • locks in makeup for long-lasting wear, without adding weight or texture
  • matte finish with a touch of sheer coverage
  • absorbs oil and reduces shine all day
  • denser than an average powder
  • has super smooth even application and blending
  • no flashback formula
  • doesn't settle into fine lines or pores and never looks cakey
  • work on all skin tones
  • noncomedodenic
  • dermatologist tested
Research results:
  • in a consumer test on 32 women after 2 weeks: 100% said it's the key to long-lasting makeup and ensures makeup lasts throughout the day
  • 100% said it is lightweight and does not look cakey on skin\
  • 100% said it controls and reduces shine
  • 97% said it absorbs excess oil
How to Use:
Preparing the puff or sponge is key: press the Laura Mercier Powder Puff into the loose powder, then work the powder into the puff by folding and rubbing the halves together, or by tapping the powdered side vigorously on back of hand. Gently press the puff onto skin, using a rolling motion to work the powder in. As with all setting powders apply any creamy formulas, including cream blush. Tip: when your entire makeup application is complete, including color, give your skin a velvety, finished look by using the powder brush to apply translucent loose setting powder to sides of your cheeks, and the center of the forehead, nose, and tip of the chin.

Ingredients:
Talc, Magnesium Myristate, Nylon-12, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, EthylhexylPalmitate, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Methylparaben, Lauroyl Lysine, Propylparaben,Polymethyl Methacrylate, Butylparaben, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Gylcine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Tocopherol, Methicone. May contain: Ultramarines (CI 77007), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499).

My Personal Opinion:
This loose setting powder is the holy grail of setting powders. Not only is the powder so finely milled that it looks beautiful in all lights, but I use as a finishing setting powder and to set my contour. Overall it is a great product and does exactly what is says, finishes your foundation perfectly, does not crease. It just makes your skin glow without looking sparkly or white. ♡♡♡

  1. Makeup has so many steps and seems so complicated but I learn a little every week by reading your blogs. This powder though, seems to do wonders by reading all the benefits you have listed.

  2. I love this powder. Ask just about anyone who enjoys doing makeup, and this is typically their go-to powder. I love how you listed all the benefits of the powder, so that it was straight forward and easy to understand why so many people use it.

  3. I've always used elf for my translucent powder, but the most recent one I bought is difficult to work with. I have never heard of this brand, but I bet it works better than my current one.

  4. All the makeup artists I watch on YouTube use this powder, but many have different opinions as to if it has flashback or not. In your experience of using this product, did you notice if it has flashback or not?

    1. No in my experience I have not noticed any flashback and also recently I have been using Too Faced Born This Way Powder as well to compare because a lot of beauty YouTubers have been talking about it.

  5. I have no clue what half of this means other than the few terms my sister used to explain this to me when she decided to do my make up. You have some serious talent to be doing all of this and it pays off really, you guys all look so on point everyday. Whether it's the brand's or the skills you have, really good job.

  6. Right now I am testing a new setting powder by hard candy. At first I really liked it, it’s very light and leaves a smooth texture on the skin, but recently I have noticed that it makes my makeup look really cakey. Especially under my eyes.
